Most of my First Grade students come from families living at poverty or near poverty levels. The children are given a supply list at the beginning of the year, but most of the students never have a complete set of supplies. Our school has already been identified as a Title I school, which means a very high percentage of the students are on free or reduced price lunches. My children want to learn and they deserve to have all of the things they need to get a quality education. The development of fine motor skills is very important at this age, and art supplies would help make that possible.
