The tables/desks in my classroom are bulky, in poor condition and not ideal for students to work/learn collaboratively. Several of the desks have lost footing making the chairs unstable and cause them to rock. Also they are unable to be height adjusted because the bolts have been stripped. The desk in our classroom are made for students to work independently and not collaboratively. This is not conducive for our teaching and learning styles in today’s classroom, especially in a first grade classroom. We work in small groups often throughout the day and need furniture that is comfortable and student friendly. My students need a table that is suitable to learn, explore, and work together at. All of these issues are extremely distracting, and make it difficult for us to learn.
