I support several students in my classroom who experience visual impairments. Children who are visually impaired can do virtually all the activities and tasks that sighted children can do, but they often need to learn to do them in a different way or using different tools or materials. These materials will help these students learn and access materials in our classroom. Some materials will help students with sensory processing and checking into their bodies, tactile matching, fine motor, and literacy. Others will help to create spaces away from distractions. These are all vital for learning and building independence.
