The da Vinci coders refers to the engineering teams at Alexander Hamilton Senior High School. We have achieved this goal through entrance into a few specific competitions annually. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) regional competition involves a task that must be accomplished with students using their engineering knowledge to construct a machine that can accomplish that task. Hamilton has demonstrated immense skill at JPL, consistently advancing to finals over the past ten years. Additionally and notably, we enter the FIRST Robotics Competition annually, where a robot that we construct, competes in an international alliance. Though relatively new to this competition, Hamilton has already won the Rookie All Star Champs at the FRC Los Angeles Regional 2015. This year, we hope to enter the Robotics Competition better equipped than ever to compete, but to do this, we are going to need all the help we can get! Every year, our students get to participate in this competition regardless of economic status because of our access to tools and grant writing teams. Unfortunately, last year, our wood shop teacher (who had allowed the usage of his equipment) was let go from the school and we lost the crucial access to those tools.
