This equipment will be used to engage students in fine motor skills and provide sensory awareness. The needs of my students are varied. I will be able to use the different toys such as the Bop it games to encourage and facilitate movement. My students are eager to learn. The activities provided will encourage movement, provide sensory stimulation, and enjoyment. Sensory toys are needed to provide the particular input that many children with autism and others crave. The flashing tambourine and ocean drum will be used to help meet sensory needs. Studies show sensory toys can improve concentration and focus in children. My students always enjoy when we can incorporate music into our movement activities. The rain sticks, drums, and piano mats are sure to excite them. The iPad can be used to play music and can also be used as a communication tool for some of my non-verbal students. Students need many different tools in order to be successful. The equipment requested will enable me to provide students with multiple opportunities in the physical education setting. These toys will not only help develop fine motor skills, but encourage my students to have fun and play.
