My introductory theatre students will be learning theatrical knot-tying using 5’ lengths of clothesline. This will be during the set and props section of my course, and then we will follow it with lighting and sound design using Wole Soyinka’s Death and the King’s Horseman brcause my students from rursl Mississippi need to experience global theatre and literature. The sewing machine will be used for costume construction in our unit on costuming, hair, and makeup. I’m using the book I Never Saw Another Butterfly to teach a tidbit of theatre history tied into the acting section because true creativity comes from boundaries.
