The days of being an elementary school student, walking into class in the morning, completing a worksheet silently, and pulling out a book to read when you're done are over. What if we were to rethink our mornings? What if mornings were a time where students were excited to come into class? What if students were doing activities that involved collaboration, strategy, creativity, rigor, problem-solving, critical thinking, or addressing various learning styles? The Morning STEM Choice Project, will do just that! Morning STEM Choice will allow students to walk into the classroom, grab a STEM item and start creating! Students get to start off their day doing a creative activity that gets the excitement and engagement started and will extend throughout the rest of the day. During this time, students are practicing 21st Century Skills without even realizing it! The lessons that will be taught will extend beyond the classroom, the students are learning to create items, communicate their design, and collaborate with others to solve problems. The items included in the Morning STEM Choice Project include; VIAHART Brain Flakes, GARUNK Building Bricks, idoot Magnetic Tiles, and Magnetic Building Sticks, along with a rolling cart for easy storage and access! By using these items, the students can create and design different items that represent their wildest dreams.
