These first graders love making discoveries and connecting to the natural world. I have started "science centers" in my classroom where the students are able to gather information, read and write, and create artwork for the science concepts we are studying. We are currently learning about the ocean, so iPad covers and headphones would allow students to utilize classroom iPad's during science centers by taking pictures of the seashells and listening to ocean sounds. Without the covers and headphones, students will not be able to carry iPads. To integrate art and science, the students have hopes of turning the information they gather during science centers into an art project such as using watercolor on their own fall leaf or creating a seashell with oil pastels. The Crayola Watercolors are easy for first graders to use, as are the Crayola Washable Oil Pastels and Tempera Paints. The art paper is high quality and thick, allowing their artwork to be displayed all around the school. By donating to this project, you are providing students an opportunity to make discoveries and use their creativity in a way that is new and exciting. This is also an opportunity for them to use resources they do not have access to outside of the classroom.
