My students with disabilities gain independent living skills within my transition program. Currently, we have an older oven, that tends to burn or not cook our food thoroughly. Having an oven that works properly will enhance their independent living skills and ease their transition from student to adult life after high school. Students will be able to complete 1-2 person meals within my ServSafe kitchen as well as restaurant-style meal planning for independence. Many of my students plan to work in the culinary field possibly post-graduation. With lessons that enhance meal-prep, my students will gain the pre-requisite skills prior to on-the-job training in the community.
