Weekly, during Lunchtime Literature the Principal introduces a new series of books to the K-6 students. The students are challenged to read all of the books in the Author's Collection. Currently in our Library, the books are organized non-traditionally by AR Quiz and ZPD Colors instead of by the traditional systems. This has proven easiest for the students in choosing books of personal interest and meeting reading goals. We are needing a place to house the Author's Collection Books for easy access by the students. We have envisioned a middle aisle of low two sided shelves to place Arthur Book Collection Bins. The students would come to the Author Challenge shelves and pull the box immediately. With the Principal reading portions of books aloud while the students are eating, it has perked the interest of several students to finish reading the book that was started or to complete the Author's Challenge. Our goal is to get students interested in reading. The more they read the more they will succeed.
