My goal this year is to help my third grade students learn to work collaboratively, communicate their thoughts and ideas, and to approach challenges using analytical thinking. These are essential skills that will prepare them for success in the 21st century. I believe 2 LEGO Education WeDo Core Sets would help me get started in accomplishing my goals. I hope to instill in my students a passion for new technology, as it gives us opportunities that we did not previously have. LEGO Education WeDo Core Sets provide hands-on, discovery-based learning opportunities. The sets include familiar LEGO bricks, user-friendly software, and instructional projects, which are aligned to NGSS standards and Common Core standards. WeDo Core Sets will make advanced technology engaging and accessible to all. Students will utilize the materials to engineer and create projects as they collaborate with their teammates. Their creations will then be brought to life by using the included LEGO Education software or with Scratch, a visual programming language. My students have some experience and familiarity with Scratch already, so the WeDo Core Sets would provide materials to build upon my students' prior knowledge and to extend it. WeDo Core Sets will empower my students to innovate!
