My 12th grade students are a diverse group from many different backgrounds and of varying talents and interests. Since economic literacy is extremely important, I believe that a stock market simulation is a helpful and interesting way to have them practice their critical thinking and mathematical skills. It is important for them to be able to access real time data to keep track of their stocks. Some of my students will attend four year universities; many more of them will attend community colleges; and, of course, some will join the business world. Regardless, all of them must become more aware of their financial potential.
