When we return, students are going to be even more in need of safe places to gather and to share. My classroom has always been that place for the "fringe" students to gather during lunchtime. They have worn out my current microwave - it died two days before school was moved out of the building. I also run a club that meets after school, and they use the microwave frequently. Having this simple appliance in my room supports my students and allows them a safe gathering place to share food and each others' lives.
