All the students that come into my classroom, come in about the same age but they are all not the same developmental age. In my inclusive classroom, I have many different students with many different needs. All children are welcome in my room and with this said, it is my goal that all students are able to access learning and engagement in activities that are developmentally appropriate. DAP, or developmentally appropriate practices is when you provide activities, toys and experiences for the children that meet them where they are. Due to some diagnosis, syndromes or other impairments, there are students in my class that come in developmentally lower than others in the class. *Providing these students with developmentally appropriate toys will support their engagement in the classroom and promote opportunities to build relationships with both the teachers and their peers.* Meeting children were they are and providing opportunities for engagement, creates the foundation for learning and growth. All children have the right to be apart of a classroom, belong to a classroom community, learn and grow.
