With these Ukuleles and gig bags to store them my 5th grade students will be given the opportunity to not only play an instrument but to also explore music in a different way besides listening and singing. Ukuleles are perfect for the classroom because they can be played in an ensemble setting or a solo setting. Not only can students just play the instrument, but students can sing and play or even be given the chance to write a piece for the instrument too! My students will be able to compose, listen, sing, play, and so much more with these instruments. Not only can they challenge themselves, but they will be given the chance to collaborate with other students in class and create something amazing together. This is my first year teaching and I am wanting to make sure that I am doing everything in my power to give these students different opportunities to learn music. I want these students to be able to develop life skills as well. Playing Ukuleles not only is fun and exciting but it teaches students to be responsible and accountable for themselves. To have high expectations for themselves and to start developing and executing the mind-set of hard work pays off.
