The STEM kits and materials will provide hands-on criticial and logical enrichment activities for academically gifted students in Lafourche Parish Schools. The reusable supplies will be shared so that all gifted students will benefit. STEM activity kits stimulate higher order thinking skills and promote interest in math and science fields for academically gifted students. The kits provide materials for enrichment lessons that target objectives not addressed in the regular classroom setting. With these kits, students will be able to actively participate in an enrichment lesson and are more likely to retain the concepts learned through hands-on discovery. Research states that students will remember and understand concepts by completing hands-on activities rather than simply listening to a lecture.
