Imagine listening to a story in the library on a small, crowded carpet, where it feels as if the students are sitting on top of each other. Will that allow them to enjoy a story or help them concentrate on what the teacher is saying or teaching? Definitely not! Having a large carpet with spaces designated for every child, will help my students, kindergarten through fifth grade, enjoy listening to a story as well as, have their own personal space to focus! They won’t have to worry about being too squished or having to sit on the cold floor because there is no room. By giving my students a carpet with individual spaces for them to sit, I am hoping to alleviate the struggles some students have of not focusing as a result of not having enough space to sit. Giving students a spot that is theirs will definitely help my kindergarten and first graders! It will allow them to follow directions as to where they should sit in order to listen to a story in the library. There will be no fighting over who sits where, and they will feel comforted knowing they have a designated spot on the carpet!
