At this time, my students are learning all about light and sound. With light and sound come many opportunities for students to explore these concepts that affect their everyday lives, however, we lack the resources to do so. Students understand that light and sound travel in waves, but what do those actually look like? How do they travel? What direction will light go and can it be manipulated? Will sound change if certain objects are in the way? These are only a sample of the many questions that can be explored if we had the materials needed in order to conduct those experiments. My students love to explore what they learn with hands-on activities that not only make their learning that much more fun, but help develop a higher level of thinking and understanding beneficial to lifelong learning.
