How do you make a homemade three minute hourglass out of everyday items? How do you take your favorite recipe and make enough for the whole class? How much does a homemade smoothie cost to make? These questions will be answered using a kitchen scale and math. Students will be using kitchen scales to learn about rates and ratios. They will be involved in hands on projects that involve weighing items like sugar to understanding constant rates. They will be interactively learning these concepts through projects instead of through non-relevant textbook examples. Hopefully students will also learn about nutrition and the importance of reading food labels.
