Every morning, students are greeted with a morning message, and they are excited and motivated to learn. Students look forward to it as they start their day with a positive message and interaction with their classmates. By greeting each other, we build our classroom community. Through positive interaction and support we are ready to learn. Having a literacy easel in our room will give students more opportunities to interact in morning meetings, writing workshops, and literacy centers across the curriculum. Students respond to a daily morning message, and this easel will allow students to respond and view it comfortably from a seat on the floor. Learning happens all around the room, and this allows students to engage in small and large group lessons in areas around the room. Students are active learners, and they learn in so many different ways. By modeling proper reading and writing practices with the use of the easel, students are more engaged in learning. Students respond positively to the responsive classroom, and they are truly part of a community. This project will help support the responsive classroom routines as well as strengthen learning through small and large group instruction while using the literacy easel.
