A sensory path will be so beneficial for our students at MES. A large amount of our students require specialized services. Many of our students have been diagnosed with ADD and ADHD. They struggle to be still and stay on task. The sensory path will serve as a good "brain break" for them to get their body moving and come back to focus in the classroom. Studies have shown that exercise improves alertness, attention, and motivation. The path will also be used as a redirection tool to combat negative behaviors in the classroom, which will promote self-regulation in our students. In addition to assisting our students with special needs, it will help all of our students become more in-tune with their senses, develop motor skills like balance, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness.
