Let's read in Spanish! My goal is to help my Spanish students build their grammar and vocabulary while developing a love for reading... in Spanish! Reading is a critical component of growing language and developing fluency. It also decreases stress, improves memory, increases empathy, helps you be a better writer, improves your self-discipline, and reading can inspire you. I want my students to experience these gifts. Currently, I have enough novels for one period so we've been piloting my reading program. We begin each class with 10 minutes of silent reading, in Spanish. This is a wonderful time for students to transition from their previous class to my class and have a moment to focus on something that interests them. They are reading books with high frequency vocabulary words that are specifically written for students learning Spanish. It is so exciting to see them looking forward to our reading time and to hear them sharing about what they read. Please consider supporting us in the purchase of more Spanish novels for our classroom library and several book racks that will prominently display these books. ¡Muchas gracias!
