I am requesting a document camera so that EVERY student has the best possible view of what I am doing during each lesson. The students are able to view material and information presented on a large screen without the use of overhead transparencies. The information can come in the form of paper documents, math manipulatives, reading passages, writing samples, etc. that support learning. The best thing about a document camera is that it can be used in every single part of the day. I can use it to model tracking print in literacy, illustrate how to form the letter S during handwriting, demonstrate how to keep track of objects when counting, show the inside of a pumpkin, or show how to play a fun game. The document camera will help all students see what I am doing so that they know exactly what to do themselves. I can show...not just tell! The students at my school have a huge challenge ahead of them. Research shows that students from high-poverty, minority homes face a large achievement gap. I want to be able to provide these young, eager children with every possible experience to help them learn and grow. The document camera supports all students during lessons so that they have equal access to the information being presented. I hope that you can help provide these students with an exciting tool to support their learning.
