Students need access to the tablets in order to find reference images for projects we create in the art room. Right now, we try to make do with magazine photography, but most images are small or covered with text making them difficult to use. Being able to find an image quickly and get to work helps keep student excitement towards the project. Students are required to photograph and upload their finished projects to their online portfolios. Access to tablets would make this process user-friendly across all of my student population (grades 6-12), as well as save myself valuable prep time. Portfolios are an extremely important aspect to visual artists who want to continue their education after graduation. I am also looking forward to showing any digital activities to students who are absent upon their return.
