Helping myS.E.L.F grow is a project to help my students within a social-emotional learning-focused environment. My youngest learners will use these books and tools to help them understand their emotions and know that it is ok to have emotions. Self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, relationship skills, and social awareness are the main components of social-emotional learning. My goal is to provide as many tools to best help them succeed and learn to regulate their emotions. A student’s ability to focus, manage emotions, and stay engaged plays a large role in his or her ability to best learn. Students who can work collaboratively and communicate effectively are better able to harness their academic knowledge to perform in school.
