Public speaking seems simple because those who are good at it make it look easy. But like performance art, a strong speech takes rehearsal. Unlike acting, speeches require turning an individual's ideas into his or her own unique, carefully crafted words and finding the conviction with which to make a speech compelling to the audience. The goal of any speech: inspiration. Today's high school students will encounter far more digital communication in their lives than generations before, and the need to create authentic learning opportunities that put voice and delivery at the forefront of their communication is essential. The classroom audio and video recording set will give speech students the chance to record, interact with digital recordings, reflect on their content and vocal and nonverbal delivery in order to refine their speeches for live presentation.
