I teach two classes of reading and writing. I have two co-teachers who come into my room to support our learners. Many lessons call for students to gather as a community on the rug. We currently don't have a rug, so students are sitting on the cold, hard floor. A classroom rug will allow us a place to gather as readers and writers on a daily basis. We also do daily community circles, so this will allow us a cozier place to gather and share. It also will create an additional space in the classroom for students to do their work or for teachers to conduct small group lessons.
