The materials and supplies donated to the sewing club will greatly help my students to learn a much needed life skill that has been left out of the curriculum. We will be using the cloth, thread, and sewing materials for this project. The overwhelming response of students wanting to learn this skill has been so awesome. With something that started out as a few students watching me sew up a tear in a jacket, to students staying through their lunch to learn cross stitching. This club has given kids a purpose and a sense of pride. They get excited about making art with thread and being able to fix and mend things. I am really happy that sewing has ignited a creative spark in some students who might have been overlooked or didn't feel like they belonged.
