The comfy chairs will be inviting to the children, making them feel welcome to sit in the library and enjoy books. Having a listening center in our classroom will allow for a lot of learning. The listening center will focus on their listening skills by following along with a book. When listening to a book and following along, it allows the children to learn new words and be able to point them out while following along. A child might even enjoy a genre of a book they might not otherwise pick out for themselves. Children can also be introduced to books above their reading level. Using a flannel board will allow for children's imagination and creativity to flourish. Flannel boards take books to a whole new level. If you allow the children to help you with a flannel board story, it helps with fine motor skills. Reading a story using a flannel board can also help the children with memorization, so when you read the book again the children can read it along with you. We have seen how choice can positively affect our students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
