My class this year is filled with diverse students. My goal with the items listed in my project is to include every student in our daily learning. The light covers will be used to cover the fluorescent ceiling lights in our classroom. Many of my students react negatively to fluorescent lighting, experiencing symptoms including anxiety, headaches, and attention struggles. The covers will encourage a more relaxing and productive learning environment where all my students can succeed. Our school is an Arts Integration school, where we use many different techniques, such as visual art, drama, music, and movement, to teach the whole child. I have recently created STEAM bins for my students to use throughout the day to enhance their learning by gaining the interest and excitement of every child. Many of the STEAM bins I have created engage each student and encourage them to grow through exploration. The cart I have asked for in my project will be used to store and organize the bins in my classroom. I have also requested a book bundle of STEAM books to encourage and interest students throughout the day during different subjects. The dry erase dots are a great way to allow the students to communicate their understanding and learning while working in small groups with me, even if they cannot use words to express their thoughts and ideas. In addition to encouraging students to express themselves while in our classroom, I have requested a book bundle of books on kindness so we can continually discuss the importance of kindness, acceptance, and inclusivity in our classroom!
