I am serving Special Education program specifically Social-Emotional Services Students 2 (SESS2). These students struggle with emotions (like anxiety and low self-esteem) often also have a hard time with social situations. This pilot district program often focuses on students' emotional intelligence to help them work on things like coping with feelings, setting goals, making decisions, getting along with, feeling empathy , understanding and respecting themselves and others. One way to make Math learning easy and enjoyable is to provide my students with the necessary resources in my Mathematics classes (Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, Financial Literacy) through fun and challenging learning opportunities to change behavior that may help them manage their emotions. I believe when students get the help they need to understand themselves and one another, it can lead to positive outcomes in school and beyond.
