The Visual Arts are a fundamental part of every child's education. Many of the skills and concepts that are learned through the visual arts are crucial to understanding concepts in the core curriculum areas as well. An example of this collaboration would be, the overlap between our tessellations project and the study of geometry. In order for my students to be able to create these collaborative and creative projects they need appropriate seating to comfortably reach the work tables in our classroom. Many of our old chairs are broken and cannot be adjusted to the correct height. The chairs that are not completely broken are unstable and often lower despite being locked into the correct height. As a result, many of my students cannot properly reach the work surface to complete their projects. Donations to our project will ensure that each student will have a safe and stable seat to comfortably reach their work surface. With this new seating my students will be able to create a variety of projects and explore new mediums without having to constantly stand up just to reach their work table. For many of my students, art class is a haven and a retreat from the stresses of everyday life. Some students while struggling academically, have found success and a sense of achievement through the work that they do on their art projects. Your donations can help to make their experience even more enjoyable.
