My class comes to school with vastly different abilities and backgrounds. Although a few come in knowing their letters and numbers, over 80% start Kindergarten without the background knowledge required to meet the grade-level standards set by the district for students. The students will utilize Apps to learn these beginning skills. Many of my students don't know their letters, numbers or colors. Many are ESOL and have a language barrier. Without an assistant, it is difficult to bridge the educational gap that these students face. This technology would allow students to work on these skills while other students are working to extend their knowledge.
