Students rarely have the opportunity to work collaboratively to solve real world problems. By starting and operating a button making business, students will learn to work together in teams, brainstorm money making strategies, market, and implement selling buttons. Students will see how gross and net profits differ and learn about feeding profits back into the company to sustain or grow profits. Students will benefit from real experience within the safety of the walls of high school. Students will work together in a manner that will matter to them while gaining authentic experience many will never have the opportunity to explore outside of this unique learning situation. Before it is all said and done, students will have the opportunity to do a cost analysis to maximize profits and reinvest in the company in order to make more product to market and sell. This will provide students with practical skills necessary in today's job market.

About my class
