Animals add a fun and creative way to learn in a classroom. Our class hamster can help our children learn responsibility and many other important skills. Studies show that having a pet in the classroom enhances the learning environment and helps make lessons more engaging. Many of my students struggle with attention and I believe adding in the wonder of a pet could help with that! There are multiple fun ways to incorporate a pet in to many different subjects. For example " Is our hamster fast or slow?, "Is this block bigger or smaller than our hamster?" and countless of other opportunities. Our class pet can also assist with language, many of our students have delays in speech and could benefit from the excitement of our new pet! We are always finding new ways to encourage our children to communicate their wants and needs and a pet could be a great motivator for them to use their words.
