My students will be invited to create essays inspired by the world around us! I am excited to help encourage my students to read Scholastic News Magazines for current and up to date stories. These magazines will bring the world to my students and enhance the information needed to write multi-step essays. The project " Pack the Paragraph" will use a real suitcase filled with travel tags (one for each of my writers) and parts of speech word cards to inspire my students to use details to support their writing with the help of Scholastic Book Company. I will be teaching my students to be creative in the writing process. They will be able to use the workbooks to help organize their descriptive and detailed paragraphs. They will use technology to follow up on the Scholastic News stories and be able to confirm details about the stories and share their essays to other students in our school! When they share their work, each student will receive his/her very own travel tag! Passports will be created as well! We will "travel" around the world through our writing!
