ONE WORD. ENGAGED. When students are engaged in their learning, they remember what they learn. I carefully chose materials that I felt were hands on and especially motivating to those kids who LOVE to learn that way. Who wouldn't want to Pop & Add? This game is similar to Trouble and students will want to pop the dice inside to see what they have to add. I chose the Lakeshore Learning Folder games because they are so colorful and eye-catching. These will surely get student's attention. I chose a couple of different digital fact machines for fact practice to feel like a video game. I also chose special rulers to help students learn how to measure to the half inch and quarter inch because I believe this skill is vital and let's be honest- after 12 years of trying every kind of ruler, I was ecstatic to find that these actually are a thing!! I also chose a fun magnetic bug toss addition game because who wouldn't want to throw a bug and make it stick on the board?? I can't wait to try it! And last, I chose a light up geometry center to help kids visualize space and practice creating larger shapes from smaller ones. What makes this so cool? It lights up!!
