Having a modern history classroom includes modern audio capabilities for students to immerse themselves in a rich, meaningful learning experience when they are introduced to music, movies, and documentaries that challenge their preconceived notions of what learning history and geography is all about. The Samsung HW Q7OT offers a reliable, high-quality means to bringing students to worlds that they didn't know existed, and they will be able to do so by better understanding the content they are studying and in so doing, be able to analyze cause/effect, comparison, and change over time and place critical thinking skills in informal discussions and in formal assessments. To listen to a classical Indian sitar being played in a folk song from South Asia that transcends the ages, and then finding it again in a Beatles song from the mid-20th Century Western World helps my students understand the concept of cultural diffusion. To hear a recording of Robert Johnson's made in Chicago of him singing the blues about the trials of Jim Crow in the Mississippi Delta helps students understand the social problems and some of their corresponding solutions at the turn of the 20t Century in America. An investment in this system is an investment in kids making deeper connections to historical actors and diverse geographies without leaving their second-ring cookie cutter suburb. Hopefully, when the students are able to get out and see the world a bit, they can draw a little on the music and film that opened their minds a bit in my classroom.
