These magazines will help my students learn and understand the features of nonfiction in a creative and interesting way. The children love to explore new learning and it is so important for them to be inspired to love searching for information. I project the magazine onto the overhead from their website, and we highlight all the features we see from the title, subtitles, captions, maps, and other features. Then we read and discuss the articles in depth. Finally we take the quizes on the back and watch the videos that correspond with the articles. Reading to learn is a critical skill they will need as they continue on through elementary school and beyond. These magazines really do inspire the children to search for features, and they love that they can take the magazine home when we're done.
