I am teaching this extensive art project to my Spanish 4 Honors classes for the first time. My students will work in small groups to recreate a masterpiece painting that was originally created by a Hispanic / Latino painter onto a ceiling tile that will decorate my (and the other Spanish teachers' classrooms). In order to make this project a reality, my students need art supplies so they can turn the ceilings of the Spanish classrooms into beautiful works of culturally-rich and diverse art! Taking a Spanish class is not only about grammar and vocabulary, it also involves a deep understanding of the cultural practices, perspectives, and products of the Hispanic and Latino people throughout history. These ceiling tiles make the classroom a warm, inviting, and exciting place to learn!
