This unit, reading There, There is coming to BIHS classrooms due to the advocacy of a student in our program who is passionate about young people learning about Native people, their history and their current lives (which is the focus of this book!) I am so excited to work with this student on bringing this book to my classroom, reading about the history of Indigenous people in this country and facing the hard truths. I also look forward to the young people in my class creating a project where they take action to spread their understanding of Native people. I am so excited to start this unit!
