These materials will make a difference in student learning because I will be able to offer more students the opportunity to learn how to code and program. Our students typically struggle with STEM subjects and although we have done better to engage them by presenting science in a more authentic way, we can be better by offering them an arena to practice real science and math though hands-on learning. I have worked hard to make sure my robotics class integrates lessons they are taught in their core classes so we are no longer teaching out subjects in isolation. Imagine if I am able to enter the algebra class with drones and teach them to apply the Pythagorean theory to their programs! Or if with the Spheros suddenly an exhibit in art class can be a moving art exhibit. I want my students to see the practicality in learning the math and science we teach them. I want them to understand their geometry because they understand translations thanks to their ability to program.
