My class is a 7th grade civics/writing class. This project will help me create a "Civics Cafe" for my students. Cafes are always spaces where people come together with loved ones to discuss ideas and current events. By creating flexible seating and a cafe "vibe", my goal is to create a safe, inclusive, and comfortable space where students can learn about civics and discuss how it impacts their daily lives. Civics is the foundation for the rest of our lives. I emphasize that knowledge of civics will propel students in every area of their lives and help them understand what is happening in the world around them. Creating a Civics cafe will bring students one step closer to the activists and leaders they were born to be!
