Yoga mats will provide all the students a chance to "pause" during their busy day and take a breath. Students' lives are full of constant movement and transitions from one thing to the next, whether it be at school or their home life. I would like to add to my physical education/health classes a time at the end of class for students to "pause" on their own yoga mat and do some mindfulness. I will help guide them through techniques they can use in class and hopefully use throughout their day and life. By donating to this cause I believe that students' focus can improve when they go back to class. It should also decrease their stress and anxiety while increasing their ability to manage their emotions and feelings. Students will learn breathing techniques to help them throughout their day when they feel they are getting overwhelmed. Some days we will also do some yoga poses and stretching which can aid with one's focus and helping our bodies feel good. My staff too can benefit from this project because I can also do mindfulness with my staff after school. This would be a huge asset for them to help with their stress as well.
