Help us give our students sensory items to help with calming techniques for anxiety and overstimulation. The items are primarily for use with students with disabilities and autism. However, the creation of a sensory room will benefit the entire school community. A sensory room at our school would not only benefit the students in Special Education classrooms or those with disabilities, but can also be a source of support for students dealing with trauma, who may need movement breaks, or those who may need a calming or de-escalation space. To help them become successful, we want to provide them with a calming space and coping techniques that are essential to meet their emotional and academic needs, and will allow them to reach their full potential. Our goal is to obtain the supplies necessary to create a sensory room with materials such as water therapy toys and foam blocks, swings, crash mats, sensory lighting and bubble lights tube, that will provide them a framework for calming and coping techniques. We have the space necessary to create our Sensory Room. Now we need your help to purchase the sensory materials and increase the chance for student success.
