To empower my students, I plan to bring in instructors who have worked with diverse populations to help them be more in control of their feelings. The goal of the yoga and meditation workshops is to teach students how to access their own strengths, power, and confidence. We want to help students understand how to decrease anxiety and worry and increase cognitive performance with simple and practical tools that can be done throughout the day, without disruption to classroom learning. Through twelve 45-minute mindful program sessions conducted over the school year, students will learn how to release stress by calming their bodies and minds. They will learn how to balance their energy, practice the power of mindful breathing and understand the control we can have over our bodies, feelings and emotions to empower them to be their best unique selves.
