I teach in a Project Based Learning Pathway with more than 30 students in a class. This is a 1-1 computer learning environment. There are many times that I use websites that have audio and/or visual components. The students have a difficult time focusing as many students learn at different paces. Using individual headphones will allow students to learn at a differentiated pace without distracting others. Mathematics websites have many videos demonstrating how to solve and apply examples. Since students learn at different rates, the classroom becomes quite busy with everyone trying to listen to different examples all at the same time. For many students, this is impossible as they cannot focus due to attentions deficits. Having individual headphones will lessen the audio distractions and allow many more students to engage and learn from the lesson.
