We've recently moved in to a brand new building...very exciting...however my office space has a sterile, industrial feel-with bright fluorescent overhead lights, white sheetrock, and cinder block walls. I'm asking for some soft, home-like lamps to soften the lighting. I'm asking for canvas prints to splash some color onto the white cinder block (I've already purchased and/or brought in from home several wall and table decorations). I'm also asking for a coat tree for back-packs and coats to be stored. Finally, I'm hoping to get a critter-proof, transparent storage container for snacks to be stored. When working with students to complete evaluations, I am often meeting them for the first time. My goal is to enhance my office space in such a way that there is an immediate comfort level coming in to my office for the first time. The more effectively I can ease any test-taking anxiety and develop rapport, the greater the benefit to their performance, and the greater the likelihood of them reaching out for follow-up.
