Each of my students has a sketchbook that belongs just to them. They have complete creative control over it; it is a place where no one dictates to them what to create. Storing something like this can be challenging when over 500 kids have a sketchbook that stays in the art room. My students need a place to easily access their sketchbook at the beginning and/or end of class without teacher assistance. This is another piece of the “ownership pie.” If they can freely access their individualized sketchbook, they will have even more pride in it. They love these books.
