I want to get a bouncy band for each of the chairs in my classroom. These bands allow for silent movement that can release some of the students pent up energy they have stored in their bodies. Traditionally students are told to sit and be still, but new ideas are showing that movement can actually increase learning. Research shows that a student's brain and body have become more sedentary than in past years. We need to give students a chance to move in a way that promotes positive learning. Giving students bouncy bands will help students overcome focusing/attention needs as well as provide an outlet for built up stress in order to focus and achieve. More movement brings more oxygen which is essential for life and learning!
